Lappset Group Oy, a playground and sports equipment manufacturer, has upgraded its ERP system to the cloud-based IFS Cloud platform. IFS Cloud ERP implementation project was carried out in collaboration with IFS Channel Partner Aveso Oy. In addition to the IFS Cloud implementation project, the agreement between Lappset and Aveso included Aveso’s comprehensive value-added services, such as Aveso Cloud Services platform and support and maintenance services. Aveso also handled the integration implementation and architecture design on the Azure platform.
Goals for the system upgrade – Driving change through the harmonization of people, processes and technology
Lappset’s goals for the IFS Cloud upgrade were to improve the management of complex business processes, modernize integration technologies and ensure clear distribution of responsibility between different functions. With IFS Cloud the aim was to create a more unified operating model that supports growth, improves transparency and enables smart decision making based on real-time and reliable data.

“We needed a system capable of supporting our future growth, improving operational efficiency and better aligning fragmented systems under one coherent framework. IFS Cloud provides an integrated platform that offers full transparency, supports real-time decision-making, and ensures end-to-end process alignment. It allows us to structure complexity, empower our people, and deliver with clarity — embodying our belief that real change happens when people, process, and technology move as one.”
The goal of the ERP project was to create an operating model where technology, people and processes support each other seamlessly. These three elements were at the core of Lappset’s approach and remained closely interconnected throughout the project. This was a necessary step toward breaking down organizational silos and enhancing internal collaboration.

“With IFS Cloud ERP, we can manage complex operations and provide our employees with the tools they need to succeed and work more efficiently. Technology alone doesn’t deliver value — it’s the alignment of skilled people, well-defined processes, and the right tools that makes real transformation possible. I believe this is where the IFS Cloud project with Aveso really stands out.”

Pre-study, experienced project manager and clear structure formed the foundation for a successful implementation
One of the key success factors of the project was a thoroughly conducted pre-study in collaboration with IFS Cloud provider Aveso.

“A well-executed pre-study with Aveso was one of the key success factors in our ERP project. It gave us a clear understanding of our needs, aligned expectations across the organization, and allowed us to make informed decisions early on. That groundwork laid a solid foundation for everything that followed.”
Aveso’s project manager for the implementation was Jani Raitavuo, who has approximately 20 years of experience with IFS systems.

“ERP implementation projects require a clear structure, careful planning and above all, seamless cooperation. From the start working with Lappset’s project team was goal-oriented and all parties were fully committed to the shared outcome. This created the trust we needed to build a controlled framework, address challenges early, and keep the project on track throughout. Collaborating with Lappset’s motivated project team was exactly the kind of partnership that successful implementations are built on.”
A key to the project’s success was breaking the overall implementation into well-structured components. An experienced project manager on the client side brought structure, clarity and confidence throughout.

“We structured the project into smaller, manageable parts, ensuring that each business area had a consistent and transparent view of its own scope. This approach was critical for staying on schedule and within budget. By breaking down a complex program into clear substreams, project leadership was able to maintain continuous visibility over the full picture throughout the journey.”
Integrations – An underestimated element in ERP projects
The role of integrations in ERP projects is critical but often underestimated. Integrations are easily overlooked or treated as minor technical details, even though they directly affect business flow, data integrity and overall system usability.

“Integrations are often underestimated. They deserve proper attention and thorough documentation — especially if it’s been years since the last update. In many cases, existing setups don’t need major changes, but outdated integrations can turn into unexpectedly heavy workloads. The hard truth is: if you treat integrations purely as an IT issue, you risk overpaying, underdelivering and missing real business value. That happens when ownership is unclear, processes aren’t connected end-to-end and no one defines how information flow impacts customer experience, lead times or profitability.”
When integrations are considered from the start and viewed from a business perspective, they become a strategic part of a modern ERP environment – not just a routine technical step.
Ensuring a successful ERP implementation – 3 key takeaways from the customer perspective
- Invest in the pre-study – it defines your trajectory.
- Make people part of the change – not just passengers.
- Integrations matter more than you think – treat them as business infrastructure.
